Yesteryear Collection

In the early days of the automobile, people would fill their tanks with a can and a funnel. The gasoline was filtered through a chamois cloth, for it was often contaminated.
Later, motorists would drive into a garage where an attendant would pump the gasoline from a barrel using a hand-pump and hose. In 1910, underground tanks were developed and the introduction of "curbside" pumps followed. Not all service stations are "curbside," catering to the motorist commuting back and forth to work or off on family vacations across the country. Many are targeted to a particular need, such as the many Texaco pumps providing Texaco Sky Chief Supreme to boats and other craft in marinas.

Another common site around boating areas are Ford Trucks. The 1940 Ford was a significant milestone in Ford trucking. The venerable Model BB was set aside in 1940 and exciting changes came about. The modernization included not only the chassis - which was updated with a Hotchkiss type drive and improved suspension - but also an extensively restyled cab. To this day, the 1940 Ford Truck is considered one of the best-looking of all time.

Now, a 1940 Ford pickup truck delivers a pump of Sky Chief Supreme for a marina in Beach Haven, New Jersey. This precision-engineered replica features colourful graphics advertising "Marine Lubricants" and "Slips, Bait and Tackle," and it carries an authentic replica of a modern Texaco gasoline pump in its bed. Crafted with meticulous attention ot detail, this Texaco 1940 Ford Pickup is part of The Matchbox Collectibles Texaco Collection: Vintage Delivery Trucks Edition. It is produced by - and available only from - Matchbox Collectibles.
